Hi everyone! Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Paul Budd and I’m the new Podcast reviewer here at TDD. First, I’m a certified Podcast addict! I listen to all types of podcasts: comedy, general, family, film, media….but I’d bet you can guess……my favorites are magic-related! If an iPod could melt from Podcasts, mine would be a glob of plastic and glass right now. I’m also heavily involed in various types of civic journalism and have been a member of IBM Ring 266 in Tyler, Texas for lots of years. I’ve had a few modest submissions published in The Linking Ring and a couple of other magic-related places. I like to say, sincerely: I am a devoted amateur magician.
My vision for this column is simple: For now, I’m going to stringently avoid getting into, “This Podcast is good and that Podcast is bad because-because-because.” I think that, to introduce a caustic, negative tone into what I’m doing here just isn’t the road to go down right now, and is not in keeping with the spirit of things here at TDD. So, for now…..I plan on hitting you, dear reader with loads of good 0le’ fashioned content! I’m going to try to point you toward any and every magic-related Podcast on the planet (unless it just happens to be a totally awful one); the idea will be: focus on the good, ignore the bad.
Over the past several days, I’ve been in touch will several Podcast creators/producers and we’ll explore their input/processes more in later columns. But, for now…why don’t we keep it simple, hmm? If you haven’t been there, just jump right on over to the Podcast you’ll find at iTunes…..it’s awesome! There are some terrific magic Podcasts out there…….but Justin conducts his interviews like a PROFESSIONAL journalist, trust me on that. Plus, he has some very thought-provoking discussions in past episodes….check those out too! Last week, he interviewed Kevin Spencer. Usually, new episodes appear there on Wednesday nights, but sometimes, they’re posted a bit late (like this week). We’ll explore more next time.
